If I Ran For President...

First thing's first- I hate politics with a burning passion. I have my views on what the world should be like but no canidate every matches those to a tee, so I never make the plunge to really back one. Also, I hate hearing about it. Politics is the basis of so many arguments and I don't care if you're 'just talking' about it- no you're not unless talking is continuesly trying to make your voice heard over the person you are talking to and looking at them like 'If only I had a sharpe knife and a good alabi right now.. why I outta...".
You may call me ignorant, but seriously- politics makes me cringe. You can be the Godliest person in the world most days.. but during Election year they turn into the freakin' devil.
Shame on you.

With that said- if I ran for prezzy things would be much, much different.
(If you find yourself rolling your eyes and thinking 'gah this girl is dumb' throughout this post, then you are one of the people I wrote about above. Again, shame on you! Have a little fun!)

Jessica For President!
I mean seriously, how could you resist this face?

Most canidates can't, don't, won't, shouldn't keep their promises but these are promises I would keep.

There would be no more democrate or republican parties. They are tearing our nation apart!

I'm Southern- that's all the explanation you need.

Every school, place of work, etc. would be required to make their students, employees, whomever have an hour of exercise a day. They must clock-in, clock-out the whole 9 yards. Some people just need that extra push.

For those days when you just need a freakin' nap.

Gone. We're all too fat.

Facebook used to be a college site- now there's 5 year olds on it. While were at it, let's make a required 'No More Social Media' age, then we can go ahead and make all our pictures public again.

We get so upset about gas prices raising.. but let's be real, coffee is expensive and I would save some major mula if my favorite Starbucks drink didn't cost me $5 a day.

Back in schools, back in businesses, back in government

Open a book people, use your brain, and yes I know how 'Big Brotherish' this sounds.

Too many people getting divorced these days. Before granting a divorce couples must endure couples counseling, living together, etc. for an entire year. Think 'What Happens in Vegas' Ashton Kutcher- Cameron Diaz style. People don't take marraige serious enough and they should be held accountable for their decisions.
Also- cheating should result in the death penalty. HA- teach those boys to keep it in their pants!
(only kidding- kind of)

There are too many stinkin rude people in this country and they need to learn some manners pronto!

Seriously, she is talented but she so very much sucks in every other department.

So.. moment of truth friends, family, stalkers (hehe), and fellow bloggers..

Whiskey Banjo Boogie

You know that one song that can completely turn your day around? No matter how crummy of a day you have had, hearing that song can still put a smile on your face. That is how blue grass music is for me. I can't help but smile, stomp my foot, and clap along to the music when I hear it. That is why I was so excited to finally hear my friend Dave's blue grass band play last night.

The name of their band is Much Oblige and let me tell yall- they were WELL worth the wait to see! They played for around 3 hours- all of their songs were written by them and they were so so so darn good. I was blown out of the water. I had heard them play around Dave's house just running through some of the songs and goofing off but when I heard them perform I was extremely impressed. These guys have pure talent and anyone with eyes & ears can tell that.

Listen to their music here or here.
Seriously- please listen, you will be so glad you did- it will brighten your day right up and put a great big smile on your face!
Visit Much Oblige on their Facebook page here.
& if you like them- make sure you let them know!

Disclaimer: Their lyrics are quite catchy.. awesomely catchy actually.. consider this your warning if the lyrics are stuck in your head for the rest of the day! :)

Murder Mystery Night

Last Saturday Andrew and I went on a surprise date I had planned. The only surprise was how awful this certain place was though! I may be a liiiittle biased because I had such high expectations of surprising him with an awesome one of a kind date but I was pretty disappointed none the less.
Thankfully- I purchased the tickets on groupon, although I still think even the groupon price was wayyy overpriced!
Where did we go you wonder? A murder mystery show. It supposed to be a dinner show where you get a three course meal and work as a team at your table to solve a mystery that is acted out right in front of you. I won't disclose the price I paid, but the actually price is supposed to be $120 a couple. Doesn't seem so bad, right? Just wait until you see the pictures. Pictures that were taken off their facebook page because when we got there, even though I was obsessed with my outfit, I didn't even want to take pictures. That bad.

Before I disclose these pictures and give you a little insight of what this night entails, let me just add that we sat BEHIND a giant stone fireplace that was in the middle of the restaurant. The 'stage' was on the other side of the fireplace so we couldn't see squat! At the end of the night when they told us who the 'killer' was we had never even seen him before! We must have missed his introduction in the beginning because he was behind the fireplace. Now, that is ANNOYING! We pay all this money, try our hardest to have a good time and solve the mystery with our group despite the situation at hand, and then come to find out we were missing half the clues and didn't know half the people involved because of the set up. That doesn't seem fair at all.

Side note: they gave my food to someone else at first and when I finally received the pasta it was cold!

This was the murder scene. Between tables where nobody could see, and in front of the fireplace where we definitely couldn't see!

This is just to show you the giant fireplace. We were on the other side of it and the stage on the side you're looking at.

Andrew and I are at the end of the table, trying our hardest to have fun.
See, we tried!
[side note: the lady behind me kept putting her feet up on the wall and having her man friend massage her.  This place was unbelievable.]

The make-shift stage and actors

And again..

Catch my drift?
This is just a warning to RESEARCH before you do anything. This was supposed to be so fun and exciting but the whole time I couldn't stop thinking about how awful it was and that I couldn't believe I drug Andrew there and paid so much money for such a scam!

Happy weekend! :)
I'm off to go wedding dress shopping with my cousin and tonight Andrew and I are going with friends to see our friend Daves band. Hopefully I'll take pictures. I need to get back in to the swing of blogging! I have missed you gals :(

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

I received this in an email from my sister this morning (which was much needed because MAN it's been a long week and it's only Wednesday!) and I thought I needed to share it with you ladies. I hope you get a good laugh from it like I did! :)

Marriage (Part I )
Typical macho man married typical good-looking lady, and after the wedding, he laid down the following rules:
'I'll be home when I want, if I want and at what time
I want -- and I don't expect any hassle from you.

I expect a great dinner to be on the table unless
I tell you that I won't be home for dinner.
I'll go hunting, fishing, boozing, and card-playing
when I want with my old buddies, and don't you
give me a hard time about it.
Those are my rules. Any comments?'

His new bride said:

'No, that's fine with me. Just understand that there will be sex here at seven o'clock every night...whether you're here or not.'

Marriage (Part II)

Husband and wife had a bitter quarrel on the day of their 40th wedding anniversary!

The husband yells, 'When you die, I'm getting you a headstone
that reads, 'Here Lies My Wife -- Cold As Ever'!'

'Yeah?' she replies. 'When you die, I'm getting you a headstone
that reads, 'Here Lies My Husband -- Stiff At Last'!'

Marriage (Part III)

Husband (a doctor) and his wife are having a fight at the breakfast table.

Husband gets up in a rage and says, 'And you are no
good in bed either,' and storms out of the house.

After some time he realizes he was nasty and
decides to make amends and rings her up.

She comes to the phone after many rings, and the irritated husband says, 'What took you so long to answer to the phone?'

She says, 'I was in bed.'

'In bed this early, doing what?'

'Getting a second opinion!'

Marriage (Part IV)

A man has six children and is very proud of his achievement.

He is so proud of himself, that he starts calling his
wife,' Mother of Six' in spite of her objections.

One night, they go to a party. The man decides that it IS time to go home and wants to find out if his wife is ready to leave as well. He shouts at the top of his voice, 'Shall we go home Mother of Six?'

His wife, irritated by her husband's lack of discretion,
shouts right back, 'Any time you're ready, Father of Four.'

A man and his wife were having some problems at home
and were giving each other the silent treatment.

Suddenly the man realized that the next day he would need his wife

to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight.

Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece
of paper,'Please wake me at 5:00 AM.' He left it where he knew she would find it.

The next morning the man woke up, only to discover it
was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight.

Furious, he was about to go to see why his wife hadn't wakened him when he
noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, 'It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.'

Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Aren't these wonderful? I especially like the last one- clever beings we are!

Oh and did anyone watch The State of the Union Address last night? Obama made a shout out to Raleigh, Charlotte, and our local community college- CPCC. Way to go North Carolina! Now if only he could bring us some jobs so I can get out of this 8am-5pm nightmare.
Sorry- I am such a little negative Nancy lately.
"I am thankful.. I am thankful.. I am thankful.."

New Years Changes

Yes, Changes.
No resolutions for this girl. Big changes take small steps. I don't believe in quitting anything cold turkey, but actually learning from your mistakes and taking the proper steps to better yourself. I have learned in the past that this is the best way to make a change- it's not flight or fall.
Well, except that one time I gave up soda for New Years.. I lasted almost 2 years before I gave in and had to drink an ice cold Cheerwine.

1) I have got to lose some weight- tone up- something.
When Andrew and I started dating I was in no way a skinny minnie, nor will I say I was fat.. But after nearly two years of getting comfortable with each other and eating lots and lots of late night junk food.. I have to start eating better.

2) Save money.
I finally got a job. It may be a temporary job but all the more reason to start saving. Now, I am not going to lie- I got my first pay check and made a few impulse purchases of things I had my eye on- but, I need to start saving. I am currently living with my very sweet and accommodating parents who are paying the majority of my bills (ok- all of them, but I don't have many!), buying almost all the groceries, have a roof over my head, and got me out of college debt free. There is no reason I should not be able to save up a good amount of money this year so I can have a good start when I do finally flee the nest.

3) Not let things get to me.
I try to be a happy person. I try to treat others with kindness. I struggle just like everyone else though. I blame this mainly on the fact that I have no patience. I get frustrated very easily and while I hate that about myself, I really can't help it. I want to try to have more patience with others. This may be a slow process and definitely won't happen over night but I am going to make an effort to try.

4) Spend more time with God.
I received a new Bible for Christmas and I would love to start having devotions. I complain about having no time for anything but there is always time for Christ. I need to make the time and I know once I get into the swing of things I will be in such a better place.

These are simple goals that I should focus on every day and that I think about quite frequently and have been thinking about for basically my whole life. That's why I like to call them changes instead of resolutions. They are things I need to remind myself of, in written form this time- everyone could use a little reminder every now and then.

Here's to 2012

Well Hey There!

WOAH. Have I been MIA or what? I would apologize, but it was nice to have a break and I can't guarantee I will ever get back to posting as regularly as I was in the past. Now that I have a full time job and can barely find the time to clean my room and run errands for must-haves, I have been trying to spend every extra minute spending time with friends and family (which I feel like I never see anymore!) and catching up on sleep. Seriously- I don't know how you girls with full time jobs do it.. all the DIY crafts, wonderful parties, and have clean, decorate houses. IMPRESSED. If only the office didn't block blogger..
Anyway- I haven't seen yall (so to speak) since before Christmas- I hope everyone had a fabulous one and a very happy New Year!
I received some wonderful gifts from the family and Andrew and had so much fun spending time with them. Christmas weekend was JAM PACKED and I didn't get a single second off work other than that so we literally went nonstop. It was exhausting but the memories were more than worth it.
Since it was so long ago, I won't kill you with a picture overload but here's a couple:

Me & My Mama at my Nana & Papa's on Christmas Eve

Andrew & I

My Mama & Jim

Nana & Papa Opening Christmas Gifts :)

The Little Ones Before Nana's

Little Izzy with her Christmas Sweater

Well, at least I posted Christmas pictures before Valentines Day!
(Something to brag about, huh?)

I am really going to try harder! I miss you all very very much. It's like I am missing my support system.
I have been reading your blogs and keeping up with you all! I read about yall on my breaks and by the time I catch up- breaks over and I don't have time to update. I never was too good with time management but I am working on it! Stick with me! :)

I will post some New Years resolutions/goals/changes (I am not quite sure how I would like to define them yet) in the near future as well as some life updates-- although, there are very few. Same ol' thing, different day now that I have no life.
