[or two hours of it]

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I hope you did as well!
Unfortunately, I only took pictures the first two hours of it while we were visiting our first of three spots.

We went to my mawmaw's house for Thanksgiving lunch. It was delicious and I had a great time visiting with my dads side of the family, which I rarely have the opportunity to see. After that, we drove to my nana and papa's, my mama's parents. I am extremely close to most of these cousins so it was a great time with TONS of yummy Thanksgiving food. I really wish I would have taken pictures of this spread.. it was literally enough to feed an army (which with 32 people there, we basically are the size of an army). After my nana's we traveled to Andrew's familys Thanksgiving dinner. We couldn't even eat much there but it was really nice to see his family as well. I, of course, snuck in a piece of his granny's delicious sweet potato pie.
In all honesty, I we spent the day racing the tv. We tried to get from one place to another between all the NFL games or their half times only to re-stuff our faces.

Last year, we stuffed our face at every single place and by 6pm we were in a turkey coma and could barely move. This year we did a little better at pacing ourselves and were able to converse and be happy at our last stop. With time we are either going to get extremely good at this or just have to learn to say 'no' every now and then. As family oriented as we both are, I think we are just going to have to learn to embrace the extra 10lbs every Thanksgiving.

Here are pictures from my mawmaw's.. mainly of my little nieces.
They are such cute little love bugs!

Am I wearing a cute poncho or a stylish potato sack?
I am still not sure about this wardrobe choice.
Whatever, it allowed extra room for my growing belly.

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Now it's time to get amped for Christmas!

Give Thanks

Pinned Image

Sometime between the pigging out on dressing and gravy and dodging the ever so popular "How's the job search?" and "When are you going to get married?" questions this Thanksgiving.. take the time to give thanks.

Also- keep this in mind [always]:
"What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?"

I am SO thankful for:

-Our Lord and Savior
-Freedom and all the soldiers who fought/continue fighting for that
-My amazing family.. seriously, they are amazing.
-My friends.. I may not have many but that makes them all the more special.
-Andrew.. I am so blessed to have found such a wonderful man that loves me.
- My health
- Having a part time job while I'm looking for another
-My education
-Never going hungry
- My morals and those who taught me them

I could go on and on.. I am truly blessed and I wish I took more time to be grateful for that than I do. Thanksgiving has a way of putting things in perspective if you just take the time to realize just how much God has given you and done for you in your life.

And.. if you're still having some trouble being thankful:

Dear Santa- I've been good this year :)

I made a list of Christmas gifts I wouldn't mind receiving this year for those in need of some ideas. Everyone keeps asking what I want- and I really have had no clue. If I want something I normally just get it throughout the year.. but I searched the web for some items I haven't treated myself to because of price and lack of need.

I could go on and on with clothing I want- I can never get enough but I normally pick out my clothes on Black Friday and then Mama wraps them and puts them under the tree for me to forget about until Christmas morning. :) It works like a charm every time- I never remember and it's such a surprise!

I hope this helps give you some ideas of what to ask for- like I said yesterday, your Christmas posts have definitely help me form this one!

Ze Weekend

I did not take a single picture this weekend. Sorry to disappoint.
Actually- that is a lie. I took one picture.. of the style # of a pair of boots I want for Christmas. I'll show you those pretty boys later. :)

So, this weekend was packed full of family fun.
With the exception of Friday night- Andrew and I had a much needed date. Dinner and Breaking Dawn! He secretly liked it.. even if he did complain about being the only guy over the age of 15 half the movie. He's a doll for coming with me. I absolutely loved it. I could blab on and on forever but I won't for those of you who haven't seen it yet! But- I will say this: make sure you stay after the credits! There is a surprise clip from Breaking Dawn Part II!

Saturday, we went to Andrews grannys for an early Thanksgiving. We are so grateful they had it early because we still have FOUR more to go to- one on Tuesday with his dad and three on Thanksgiving day. It's a whirlwind to have holidays with such big families. But, the food was delicious Saturday, and crazy enough- that was the first time I met Andrew's dads side of the family. They were all so sweet and welcoming and I had a wonderful time chatting with his little cousin, whom talked my ears off and found out more about me in 2 hours then Andrew probably has in our whole relationship!

Saturday night we got a phone call with the best news! Well, not the best (my fingers still empty!) but the second best! Andrew's mom got engaged! She has been dating a sweet man from Miami for around 5 years and he finally popped the question- with the most BEAUTIFUL ring! Seriously- it was SO pretty! So we spent Saturday night with the family eating dessert and gushing over her new bling.

Isn't it beautiful!?

Sunday I went and watched the Panthers game with my mom and her friend Anita (I've posted about her before) and a couple other ladies. We went to a place called Taco Mac and it was DELICIOUS. I could seriously live off Mexican food in general but this was to die for. We lost- again, as per the usual. Sunday night was spent with friends watching the remainder of the football games and accidentally eating deer meat which had been added to the queso without my knowledge. DISGUSTING. I gagged.. repeatably.

I am planning on putting together a Christmas list later this week- everyone has been asking what I want but I literally have no clue so I should probably get to thinking.
Any ideas for things I can put on my list? I have had so much fun looking through all of yalls Christmas lists but I just feel like I don't need anything (but money to buy gifts for the fam! Or a job- can Santa bring me a job?)

Happy Monday- If there is such a thing!

Little Smiles on a Thursday

Pinned Image

I would like to live on a farm and have cats and cows and a husband that does this.

Too much to ask for?

Okay. Fine. I'll settle for having a cat that attacks me in my sleep, a boyfriend that would rather eat the cow than milk it, and a brick house on a busy road.

Le Sigh.

As if I didn't already love J.T. Enough...

I am sure we have all heard the news that has been going around for months about Marines asking celebrities to the 2011 Marine Corps ball. I think this is an amazing idea. At first I was like, 'Way to put celebrities on the spot.' But you know what, people serving our country deserve way more than a night on the town with a celebrity, so if that makes them happy then I am thrilled they went for it and got their wish!

So, Justin Timberlake was one of those celebrities that received a personal invite to the Marine Corps ball, which he ended up attending this past Saturday with his date, Corporal Kelsey De Santis. He was a perfect gentleman, and made sure she had a night she would never forget.

Kelsey asking Justin via webcam

This is an excerpt from Justin's blog:

She seemed to me to be so humble and honest... Very cool. She also simultaneously seemed like she was nervous about the whole evening and if I was going to enjoy myself. "Are you ok?" she asked 2 or 3 times. "I hope you are having fun. I know you will once my crew of friends get here to the table." I have to tell you, it's not every day that I meet a 23 year old girl and she's more worried about if I'm having fun or if I'm comfortable! It hit me all of a sudden that these were the type of people that look after us and our freedom... Humble, concerned for others before themselves... This was the type of person our Marine Corps was building. I was really blown away.

He then goes on to explain how moved he was to be surrounded by who he considers (and so do I) his heroes. I thought it was not only wonderful that he agreed to do this, but that he also wrote a blog post on what a wonderful night he had. He said so many nice things about both Kelsey and the people serving our country. I always knew I liked Justin Timberlake, but he went above and beyond for this and I found a new respect for him because of that.

Justin & Kelly

What a wonderful thing to see. I hope you were as moved by this as I was.
It's always nice to know that celebrities are people too and some of them have such warm hearts.

Thanksgiving Recipes

I have come to realize that a lot of the blogs I read are written by wonderful young ladies who have recently gotten married, bought a new house, or just had their first little one.
Besides the obvious question of why you guys are leaving me in the dust in single gal limbo, I am dying to know if any of you are hosting your first Thanksgiving!
[If you are, more power to ya- I'll stick with going to the g-rents for as long as possible!]

If by chance you are tackling your first Thanksgiving feast in a mere 9 days, I gathered some recipes that might be helpful to yall brave ladies!

Every year I make my special cornbread to bring to my Nana's house. Everyone loves it and I look forward to making the delicious, but very easy, recipe year after year. I wrote a post about it here which includes the directions.

[Click on the titles above the pictures for the recipe!]

Some other things I pile on my plate:

Thanksgiving Dinner Side Dishes: Sweet Potato Casserole Recipes

Thanksgiving Dinner Side Dishes: Golden Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Perfect Mashed Potatoes Recipes

Best Cookies Recipes: Pecan Squares Recipes

Of course I decide to write this post the day I forget to bring my lunch to my internship. All I have is a banana and my mouth is watering from these pictures. There are so many more sides that make Thanksgiving what it is, like my beloved green bean casserole, but I just couldn't take going through anymore delicious pictures to find a recipe to die for!

Pinned Image

I hope this helps everyone get a jump start on planning their Thanksgiving meals! Andrew and I have to go to 3 different gatherings on Thanksgiving day (one for lunch and two for dinner!). Last year we were in a food coma around 5pm and barely made it.. hopefully this year we will plan better and ration ourselves.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

Today I am linking up with Amber at A Complete Waste of Makeup for "It's Ok Thursdays" and I have to admit, this is probably my favorite link-up! Why wouldn't you enjoy a link-up where you can convince yourself that everything is peaches and cream in the world? I'll take it.

It's OK...

..that I am totally stick of being stuck in post grad- big girl job limbo.
I am on my second internship while balancing a part time job and I would just love nothing more than a stead pay check doing something I love- but I will take either!

..that the fact that Christmas is right around the corner is freaking me out. I know it's not all about the gifts but my wallet totally can't handle getting the presents I would love to purchase for the ones I love the most. Also- Andrews birthday is 14 days before Christmas- talk about December breaking the bank! fight sometimes. Andrew and I have been a little off lately. We got in a fight this weekend.. one where I stayed in bed all day Sunday I was so upset. We talked it out though and I think we are back on track to being better than ever. We learned from it and that's what is important.

Couple fighting

..that I have had over 10 pairs of size 2 jeans in my closet for over 3 years even though they no longer fit. I really need to get around to getting rid of them. I just feel so guilty getting rid of nice jeans, even if they don't fit. #brokegirlproblems Anybody down to purchase from size 2's?

..that I literally did 12 minutes of the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and am totally sore this morning. I need to get into shape.

..that I have been craving Carrabbas champagne shrimp pasta since I saw it on a commercial Sunday night. Totally crossing my fingers that we go tomorrow for date night!

..that I feel really awkward and guilty not including any pictures in this post. So I am about to google some to add in randomly.

What do you think is okay?
Link up with Neely!

My Button!!!

Well ladies, I finally figured out how to make a blog button! I would love love love it if you would grab it and stick it on your blog! Ever since I changed my blogger URL, my views have been 1/4 of what they normally are which makes me totally sad! I have missed all my frands! It is my hope that they will see this button and change the URL on their reader!

She Believed She Could So She Did

and here is the code since I'm computer-illiterate and don't know how to add that!

Also- I don't have any buttons on my blog right now but I just re-did my blog to make them fit wonderfully, so let me know if you would like me to post yours on my blog and I will! I'm going to go through some of my favs later on and add them anyways but I just wanted to give you the opportunity.

Thanks gals!

A Bad Morning & A Baby in a Bar

First off, I woke up this morning and my blackberry was DEAD.. like, real dead.. never waking up again, should be buried 6 feet under, kind of dead. OUT OF NOWHERE! Needless to say, I was less than happy. I assumed it just needed a new battery, so I woke up an hour early to run by Verizon before work... It wasn't the battery. I needed a whole new friggin phone. I have insurance, but do they make mine anymore? Nope. I have an upgrade but did that stop me from having to clean out my bank account? Nope. I ended up having to pay $270 for a new blackberry. It was the cheapest one.. and it's touch screen. I for the life of me can't text on a touch screen and being as I have an unpaid internship and only work a real job 2 days a week.. goodbye Christmas presents (just a heads up fam!).
No contacts, no pictures, no apps..terrible :(
Okay, well that's my rant.
Did I mention I was going to buy the new iPhone 4s when it became available in stores with my Christmas money? Welp, there goes that idea.. now I am stuck with this stupid phone.
Okay, seriously, now my rant is over.

I should be happy to even have the money to spend on a phone and I should be glad I even have a phone in general.. and it's nice.. it was just very unexpected and but a giant damper in my plan.. and bank account!

So now to the better part of the post.
Yall said you wanted the bad news first, right?
This isn't good news by any means but it's way more interesting than my problems.
Remember that part in Sweet Home Alabama where Reese is in the bar and she see's her friends and goes (in her adorable country accent), 'You have a baby.... IN A BAR...!'
That part always cracked me up. Her friend goes, "Yeah.. this ones on the tit so I can drag it around everywhere!" (or something of that nature..).

Well, it's not so funny when you actually see a baby in a bar.
Exhibit A: Last night for Monday night football-

This was a newborn yall. We had to be sneaky taking the pic so you can't really see it (the bar is a complete square and he was on the other side- that's the bartender in the middle). Anyways, if you didn't believe I was southern already, I bet you do now that you have seen this picture! Old man, cowboy hat, holding a baby, at a bar. This wasn't an old person bar and it wasn't early. I would say 99% of the people in this bar were around the ages 21-30 and it was about 10pm when this picture was taken. Also- when we left around 11pm, the child was still present.

Is this not illegal? It should be! I know you can't smoke inside anymore but it's a BAR for goodness sakes.. there are fights, loud music, lots of drinking, etc. Not to mention, this guy was making his baby dance like a puppet to 'All the Single Ladies' at one point.

I get that it's your kid, and you should raise it how you think fit, but REALLY?

Poor kid.

Also- in other news, I won a scarf that MarleyLilly was giving away on Twitter! I was so excited because I definitely didn't expect to win (I never win anything!). I got the tweet from them announcing that I was the winner while I was at said bar and had no one to brag to it about except the boys.. they were uninterested so I had to tell yall! I picked out the red scarf with a silver monogram. Perfect for Christmas! I will definitely post a picture when I receive it! Thanks MarleyLilly!

Tomorrows Hump Day-- we're almost half way there!

Angel Chicken

I have a 'Yummy' board on Pinterest that is packed with delicious recipes I want to try out. For some reason, I never seem to get around to the majority of them. I'll make a couple things every now and then but most involve me going to the store and planning ahead. Being the lazy procrastinator that I am, that's pretty much always out of the question.

Until Thursday.
I had the day off and there for there was no excuse for me not to try out a pinned recipe.
I have been wanting to try out a delicious looking crock pot recipe for a while now, but never seemed to wake up early enough to get the ingredients into the crock pot before work. Thursday, I woke up, went to the grocery store, and came home to clean the house and start dinner.

Our Thursday night menu?

Angel Chicken

I got my recipe from the blog Cleverly Inspired, she has a lot of recipes that look amazing. I am definitely going to have to try out a couple more of her recipes since this one was SO good. Anyways, I changed her recipe a little bit to fit our taste and to use some of the stuff we already had.

My Ingredients:

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast

2 8-oz. pkg. fresh button mushrooms, quartered

1/4 cup butter

1 0.7-oz. pkg. Italian dry salad dressing mix

1 10-3/4-oz. can condensed cream of mushroom soup
( I used the 98% fat free kind)

1/2 cup dry white wine

1/2 of a 10-oz. tub Italian cheese & herb cooking creme

Hot cooked angel hair pasta

The Italian dry salad dressing mix I used

The Philadelphia cooking creme- this stuff is great!

Mix together your butter, wine, cooking creme, Italian dressing mix, & cream of mushroom soup over the stove until it is all blended together evenly.

Pour the mushrooms in the bottom of your crock pot

Put the chicken over the mushrooms then cover it with the sauce.
I cooked it on high for 3 hours and then put it on low for the last 2 hours.
(total cook time: 5 hours)

Pour it over the pasta to serve.

We had some left overs in the crock pot so I put them in the fridge to eat later. It was still really tasty the next day. If you are only cooking for two, know that the leftovers are still the! Anddd, since I used 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup it wasn't too bad on calories. You can even make it more healthy by using fat free creme cheese, whole wheat noodles, a butter substitute, etc.

I will definitely be making this again in the near future!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
