Halloween 2011

Halloween Update:
My sister just brought her adorable little girls over so we could see their Halloween costumes. They were both the 'Monster High' dolls. If you're anything like me, you probably don't have much of a clue what that is. Let me enlighten you:

This would be them.
Who in the world makes kids toys these days?
Can we say TRASH?

Anyways, my sister said the store bought costumes were way too skanky so they handmade them instead. One of my nieces is SUCH a mama's girl and has a bit of a 'tude' so she refused to take a picture.. but Kylie was looking cute as a button and let me! She is such a sweetheart.

Check out that hair! Doesn't she look awesome?
I can't wait to have little kiddies to dress up and take trick-or-treating!
Well, I can totally wait.. but man, it's going to be fun when I'm ready.

Until then, I will just take my nieces in small doses! :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Friends!

Is it just me, or does it not even feel like Halloween? The older I get, the less excited I become when this holiday rolls around. It used to be my all time favorite and now I would just assume snuggling up with a scary movie and some apple cider.

Saturday night, Andrew and I seriously considered doing just that.
But I had already bought a costume, and that thing was a whole 10 bucks so I pretty much had to put it to good use. I got ready as Andrew watched football and argued with me about how he wasn't going to dress up.
Whatever. I caved and told him I didn't care if he did or not.

Thirty minutes later, we get to my friend Daves, and everyone is dressed up. Naturally we took random things around the house to try and make-shift Andrew a costume. He ended up being what we called a 'mexican, indian, hippie'.. or something of that nature.

To celebrate, we went to a nearby bar where they were having a Halloween costume contest (this assured us that we wouldn't be the only losers dressed up). The prize was $250 for best costume.. based on audience applause.

Guess who won?
My loser mexican indian hippie boyfriend.
We signed him up as a joke, cheered super loud, and when he won, he paid all of our bar taps and walked out a couple hundred dollars richer.
So Random.

Thankfully, Andrew didn't actually wear those, but it was hilarious.

I was a prisoner and then, there's Andrew.
The quality of these pictures is absolutely awful..

Our friends dog, he was a bumblebee but hated his costume so we took it off!

Dave, AKA Rocky, gets a hand from the Mexican Drug Dealer.
Keepin' it classy yall.

Tonight, I am planning on taking it easy. After work today, I am going to see Footloose with my mom, aunt, and little cousins. I am SO excited. I have been wanting to see this movie when it first came out and haven't found a chance. Then later, I hope I get to see my little nieces dressed up in their costumes and take a million pictures to document their cuteness.

Happy Halloween everyone! If you're going out tonight to celebrate, have fun & stay safe!

If you like Pinterest...

I think you will love this new website I came across tonight.
Let me also add that if you love shopping and Pinterest.

This site is just like Pinterest, except everything is available for purchase. The best part is, a lot of it is really inexpensive and really unique. I am so glad I stumbled upon it right before I began my Christmas shopping. I feel like I get my friends and family such predictable things year after year but with this website and Etsy, I am hoping to get them unique gifts that will make them smile from ear to ear.

Okay, enough teasing, the website is...

I have to confess, earlier I said it was a new site.. but really, I have no idea. It may have been around for years before I discovered it and yall might just be shaking your head.. but it's new to me and it is aw-uh-some! It even has 'pin boards' like Pinterest titled "Gifts", "My Wish List", etc.

Here are some of the cool things I came across today:

A virtual laser keyboard for Ipad/Iphone

Owl Corkscrew

Makes your room look like an ocean!

Make separate mini cakes!

I need this. So awesome and way less clean up!

I know a couple Harry Potter friends that would love to have this cookbook!

These are just a few of the random things I came across in the Home & Office section but they have tons of adorable clothes and so much more! If you can't find something for everyone on your Christmas list then that  is cray-cray! Skip the black Friday sales and the hustle and bustle of the malls during Christmas time and check out this website first! Your friends and family will thank you.

By the way- so sorry if this website is 'SO last year' haha

It's FRIDAY! Whoop, Whoop!

Thursday Thoughts

What to blog about?
Oh Thursday.. please be over soon so it will be Friday and then Halloween!
Is it just me or does it seem like the older we get.. the weeks seem longer and the weekends are gone in the blink of an eye?
That's not even the slightest bit cool.

So anyways, I'm going to do a random post on random things because this is my blog and I do what I want.
[Hang in there. I'm bored.]

Tuesday night nobody was home at mi casa and I was bored out of my mind (do we see a pattern here..) and I realized that we have had my puppy for a couple years now and I couldn't remember ever having a little par-tay for the thing! So, I decided to stage some pictures for the poor thing so when she grows up she won't think we are the worst puppy parents ever.

Oh little Izzy. You and my sweet kitty make my heart melt even if everyone tells me you look like a little rat!

SO! Last night Andrew gave me a belated birthday present.
wait for it....
drum roll..........

and here is me sporting them at work.

I look so busy. I'm blogging.. about my dogs fake impromptu birthdays.. at work.

Moving right along..

There is a TCBY right near my house. This is both awesome and completely bad news. Andrew and I go there.. 2-3 times a week. There is this one flavor they have ever couple of months that I literally want to have relations with every time we walk in and I see it. POMEGRANATE. I die. It is so delicious.
Well, guess what they had this week?

I literally ate so much.. could have had 5 more bowls.
This is no joke ladies, I literally woke up the next morning and thought to myself in the shower, "I wonder what time TCBY opens. I would love to eat that for breakfast."
That is disgusting. I have an addiction.

I got my halloween costume. I went to Halloween Express yesterday and picked it up for a whopping 10 bucks! It was normally $59.99 and was on sale for $9.99! I did not care what it was, how it fit, or anything.. all I knew was it was the cheapest full costume in there and I was going to make it work.
It's supposed to be Paris Hilton in jail..

it came equipped with this wig.

There is a very small chance I will actually wear the wig or sport the little dog with the costume. So, I think I am just going to be a 'jailbird'.
How original right?
Hey, 10 bucks, remember?

P.S. I used to be blonde in middle school. My eye brows were still this lovely brunette color. Why did I have friends?

Okay ladies, I think I might try to make use of this work day now.

Happy Thursday!

By the way- I am thinking I need a blog change. Have you ladies worked with anyone you absolutely loved to make your blog beauuutiful? I need someone with decent prices.. my bank account ain't nothin to brag about right now if ya know what I'm sayin!

Accent Vlog

Well ladies, I did it.. my first Vlog.
Please don't judge me by my unbrushed hair and lack of makeup.
And while we're at it.. don't judge my double chin, lazy eye, or my dumb voice.
haha I am seriously not this hard on myself IRL, it's just super weird seeing yourself, flaws and all, right in front of your face.

Anyways, I was born and raised in the same house, my whole life.. in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. If you watch home videos from me when I was younger, you can barely understand what I am saying because of my southern drawl. These days, I sound just like anyone else. So many people have moved into this area, it's almost hard to call it southern. Of course, we still have our southern ways and tendencies. A lot of us still love NASCAR and have big family lunches after church on Sundays, but a lot of our 'southern staples' are gone. I hate that. I miss my accent. So please, by all means, if you think I sound even the least bit southern, tell me! I will take it as SUPER compliment!

Here are the words:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

                                                            And answer these questions:

What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

haha Have a wonderful day ladies!

Before I'm 24..

Considering I just had a birthday, I decided I wanted to make a list of things I wanted to try and complete before I turn 24. I have 365.. well, now I guess I actually have 362 days to do these things before my 24th birthday next October. While I may not get them all done, I feel a lot better having a goal of things to look forward to, complete, praise myself for, and share with others.

1. Sky diving.
So many of my friends have done this and I have just never had the money (or the nerves!) to go through with it. It seems the older I get, the more of a scaredy cat I turn into, so I know I need to do it within the next year or I may never do it!

2. Find a big girl job.
I have been working for my mom or doing internships for the entirety of my life. I hope in the next year to find a big girl job, that pays well (or well enough), and hopefully makes me feel good about what I am doing. While I love spending time with my mom every day and gaining the experience from an internship, I am desperate to find a career.

3. Go on a road trip.
I've been all over Europe, traveled around the United States by plane and to the closer states by car, but I want to go on a legit long road trip. One that takes days, that involves sleeping in cheap hotels, reading a real map, and eating at old diners while exploring the world with someone I love.

4. Begin to respect fine wine.
My drink of choice? 2 buck chuck from Trader Joes, $3 wine from Wal-Mart, or the cheapest wine on the rack at the local grocery store. I would love to go wine tasting at a vineyard and figure out a wine I actually like and not just drink whatever looks best on the price tag.

5. Give back to the community
I would love to find a charity to get involved in. Rather it be the Ronald McDonald House, a local soup kitchen, a boys and girls club. I just want to find somewhere where I feel like I am making a difference.

6. Donate Blood
It may seem like such a small thing but I have never been able to give blood. I am petrified of passing out and have just been scared in general. I have always had excuses but it's time to put those behind me and help those that need it more.

7. Start putting away for my future.
I feel like I have already tried to start saving money but instead of just having a checking account, I need to start putting money back a separate account. I am at the age where I am soon going to want to get married, buy a house, buy a new car, and start paying my own bills. I definitely can't do that with the part time job I have now, so in order to build up my money I need to start saving at least a little a week.

I could be extremely bold and continue naming things I want to do in the next year but for now I think I have a pretty decent list going. I will probably add on to it after New Years.

I guess I have come to the realization that it is time for me to grow up, and oddly (and happily) enough I am totally okay with that. I am actually excited and ready to take on what the world has to offer. It is time for me to mature.. bring it on.

This one time, at the Renaissance Festival..

I had a seizure.

No joke. We went to the Renaissance Festival for my BIRTHDAY.
 For. My. Birthday.
aaaaand.. I had a SEIZURE.

The Renaissance Festival used to be like my favorite place in the world. I absolutely loved it. It was so fun pretending to live in the Medieval Times for a day. Well, it is no longer my favorite place. I actually think it will take some time before I want to go back.

I do not have a history of having seizures.. I have never even seen a seizure happen besides in the movies. This was the first time this has ever happened and was completely out of the blue.

Here's what happened:
Me, Andrew, and 3 of our friends were waiting in line for drinks. Given, the lines for alcoholic beverages are the longest line at the festival so there were at least 30-40 people behind us (and P.S. I had only had one beer, so don't start letting your minds wonder). Anyways, so we are about to order and I start feeling extremely light headed, very nauseous, my skin starts tingling all over, and the world begins to slowly go black. I looked around desperately for some where to sit down as I kept repeating to Andrew that something wasn't right, but there was absolutely no where to sit, and people everywhere. I stood between Andrew and my friend Tina and put my elbows on the bar and then put my head in my hands because I literally couldn't even hold my head up any longer.

All of a sudden I felt my body start convulsing beyond my control and I completely blacked out.

When I came back to, I was sitting on the other side of the bar being fanned by my friend Logan, and an EMT was taking my pulse. Later, I found out that I had collapsed on Tina and Andrew had picked me up and carried me to the empty part of the bar and put me on it.

After the first EMT took my pulse, 2 others followed to question me and do a few other tests. It was so embarrassing and one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me.

The rest of the day I felt really scared, weird, and I honestly just kind of wanted a hug from my mama. I hung in there (having a horrible time) for a couple hours for the sake of my friends but then I couldn't do it any longer and finally spoke up that we had to leave.

Needless to say, so far my 23rd birthday has been the worst birthday yet.

The aftermath hasn't been that great either. Besides the fact that I had friends come in to town and feel so guilty that I was the biggest buzz kill ever, I have been so scared ever since. A good 24 hours afterwards, and still now even, I would not let Andrew leave my sight, I just wanted to hold his hand and hug him. I hate being alone. I absolutely cannot get the situation off my mind. I keep just replaying it over and over in my head. Night is the worst, I wish Andrew and I were able to sleep together, even if he was just to sleep on my floor, even if a dog slept with me. It wouldn't matter. I just feel scared, so scared, and being alone honestly depresses me. I get extremely sad and I have no idea what to do about it.

I haven't really told anyone this because I feel like I am being dramatic, but I can't help how I feel. All I know is that I hope this feeling goes away soon and I start to let that moment escape my thoughts.

Time heals all wounds.

I apologize for not having any pictures from what I thought was going to be the best birthday to date.

Does anyone have any advice or similar stories like this? I will take any sort of help or feeling of belonging.

Beautiful- Minka Kelly

It is such a shame I found one of my favorite actresses via last years thriller, "The Roommate" (what a horrible movie, am I right?).

Anywho, God bless any movie that introduced (most) of the world to this young lady.
Her beauty seems all natural, she seems like a total sweetheart, and she seems like she has the potential to be a really wonderful actress.
If you know differently.. Please, don't ruin my 'seems' with your 'oh, actually..'s'
Regardless, I would willingly take her hair, eyes, body, style, etc. without a second thought.

How many people do you know that have the ability to look cute, sexy, sweet, and beautiful?
Not many. And as if we didn't already hate her enough...

She's humble..
"Embrace your imperfections. They are what makes us beautiful. The scar from the appendectomy I had when I was little and the one from the boogie boarding accident I had a few years ago make me unique, and I'm proud of them. That said, there are days when I have less confidence than other days. When that happens, I try to treat myself the same way the same way I would treat my best friend- meaning, I love my friends for who they are and don't focus and on their 'flaws.' So I try to do that for myself, too."
-Minka Kelly

I think we can all take a little bit from Minka's quote... treat yourself like your best friend. After all, shouldn't we treat ourselves with love and care? This is the only body we have, we should be nice to it.

anddd... I am especially excited today because..

Weekend Wrap Up

I am a total slacker. It is Tuesday and I'm just now getting around to my weekend wrap up. If it makes you feel any better, you haven't been missing much.

I really didn't do much until Saturday morning when Andrew, my friend John, and I traveled to Raleigh, NC to visit my best friend Grace and my cousin Justin, who was already there. The plan was to go to the NC State Fair.
As soon as we got into Raleigh, Andrew's sister Ashley called and said that she and her boyfriend were also coming down for the night. We were excited to see them since they are normally off at college and we only get to see them on breaks.

Long story short, we went to the fair, walked around it about 3 times until we finally ran into Ashley and her boyfriend, Nolan, bought tickets for rides, realized the lines were too long, sold our tickets back, and left.

Big crowds, long lines, expensive prices.
Not worth it.

The one picture from the night:

While I wish we would have went to the fair when it was less crowded, At least we attempted and I am thrilled we got to spend time with Grace, and we got to see Ashley & Nolan.

All day Sunday we stayed at Graces watching football and drinking mimosas until we sadly had to leave.

This coming weekend I promise to take more pictures because....
Friday's my BIRTHDAY :)
Whoop! Whoop!

Your Inner Goddes.. OWN IT!

Picasso once was quoted, "There are only two types of women- goddesses and doormats."

Les Demoiselles d’Avignon’ by Pablo Picasso

This can't be. We are either a wonderful mythical being or a place he wipes his work boots?
Let me explain.

Definition(s) of a goddess:
1. A female being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people.
2. A female being believed to be the source of life and being and worshiped as the principal deity in various religions.
3. An image of a female supernatural being; an idol.
4. Something, such as fame or wealth, that is worshiped or idealized.
5. A woman of great beauty or grace.

Pshhh.. I wouldn't mind being referred to as a goddess..

Definitions are exactly what they are.. definitions. There is no emotional or 'real,' for lack of better word, meaning behind them.

Jennifer Aniston does Goddess right.

Take note ladies-
My thoughts on what a 'goddess' is:

1. She doesn't look to guys for approval.
She dresses for herself, acts like herself, sticks up for herself, and doesn't change her views or beliefs for anyone.. especially not for a guy.
2. She is confident.
She knows she's hot, she works it, has a kick-ass personality, and when she see's stupid bitches ladies talking about her she knows it's because she is the
3. She is independent and strong.
She treats her man to dinner from time to time and there is not a shadow of a doubt that if she were alone she could handle it with grace and dignity.
4. Her glass is half full.
No negative Nancy here. You can call her Miss. Brightside.
[too corny? so sorry.]
5. The chase is not for her.
Chasing men is so elementary school playground. If a man wants to play games, he gets the boot.
6. She demands respect and respects in return.
Love thy neighbor. Nobody likes a bitch.
7. She is feminine.
She loves her jeans and t-shirts but you best believe she's wearing a little lacy number underneath and is sporting some mascara and lip gloss.
8. She prizes her sexuality.
She knows what she has and how to use it but reserves it for one man, and one man only. Parading around town with your tata's hanging out is not cute gals.
9. She always has time for her girls.
Men will walk in and out of your life, but your girlfriends are they forever.
10. She doesn't let a man define her happiness
The most important rule.. and totally self explanatory.

I post this because I have been reading a lot of blogs lately where girls are having troubles with their guys. I thought relationship problems were more of a summer thing? I bring this up because Andrew and I have been fighting a good bit lately too. By fighting, I really mean arguing. I know, we seem like we live in a fairy tale and everything's great.. well, as in every relationship, it's not all puppies and butterflies over here. While I wish I could spill my guts to yall and get your feedback/support, I know he wouldn't like that and the last thing I want is to cause more problems and not respect his privacy, so I won't. Let's just put it this way- we are arguing about things and talking out things and compromising about some other things that definitely need to be taken care of before we can have a real future together. I think it's a good thing and I know we are going to get through it but your prayers and happy thoughts are more than welcome. :)

Bottom line, don't get discouraged.. remember who you were before the relationship. Love yourself. Love your man. Compromise. Listen. Pray often. Be adults. Be understanding.
Be the girl he fell in love with.

This weekend.. release your inner goddess!
