Diet Might Mean FAT!

I swear not all of my posts are going to be via the Glamour website from now on but I had to do one more for you beauties because this scared the heck out of me! Whenever I go to the store, I am sure to purchase diet soda unless I am seriously craving a Pepsi. Who needs those extra calories with everything else we eat throughout the day?! BUT, according to a study I found posted on Glamour today, diet soda might be what is making us all fat!

Straight from Glamour.com:
Experts have longed believed that diet soda could be bad for health, but wait until you hear this news: Two new studies (count them, two!), have found that diet soda drinks (with artificial sweeteners) may cause weight gain and an increase for diabetes.

"The researchers compared long-term change in waist circumference for diet soda users versus non-users in all follow-up periods. The results were adjusted for waist circumference, diabetes status, leisure-time physical activity level, neighborhood of residence, age and smoking status at the beginning of each interval, as well as sex, ethnicity and years of education.
Diet soft drink users, as a group, experienced 70 percent greater increases in waist circumference compared with non-users. Frequent users, who said they consumed two or more diet sodas a day, experienced waist circumference increases that were 500 percent greater than those of non-users.

YIKES! I feel like nothing in life makes sense anymore! So what do we do? Do we keep drinking our go-to diet coke or do we take our chances and begin to drink those regular drinks that we probably don't recognize the taste of? Do we even like those anymore? Hard to say. What are you girls going to do??

CHEERS!
