The Great Kindle Debate

I have been having an internal debate with myself for months now:
Kindle vs. Books

Being a big reader- I'm talking when I have the time I will finish a 300 page novel in a day- I have bought SO many books. Books can be pretty pricey, especially the new ones, so I was definitely looking for a cheaper way to read- while still being able to keep the books as long as I want. I love the idea of a library and I wish I utilized them more often, but waiting for a certain book to get in is torture.
For a while, I decided that there was no way I could trade my old fashioned books in for an electronic version. I would miss seeing them on my shelves, I would miss the smell of them, and I would miss waking up on them stained with a little puddle of drool (TMI?).

But, after a lot of thought, I have decided a Kindle is the way to go. My books are piling up and I am running out of room. Plus, it could fit nicely in my bag and I can buy a book with a single click. I reeeally like that. The other thing is, the new Kindle Fire has so much awesomeness about it. Yes, awesomeness, and I call myself an intelligent and educated reader. The Kindle Fire has the internet, hundreds of apps, a colored screen, downloadable movies and music, among many things I am not even aware of yet!
Sounds like awesomeness to me!

Kindle Fire Offer Cloud Storage

So, I decided to ask Andrew for a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I have decided that I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I can't wait to carry that sucker around in my purse and whip it out whenever I get a spare second to catch up on some reading and surf the web.
I have even made a board on Pinterest to keep track of what books I want to add to it ASAP!

Wonderful Tonight by Pattie Boyd

book to read!

Great book. Can't wait for the movie!

Couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the movie!

While I will definitely miss my old fashioned page turners, it is time for me to enter 2012 with a tablet. The fact that I can download books with a single click and easily carry them around with me is a huge perk. You know what would be a great invention though? Some people buy fake Christmas trees but pair it with a pine candle to give the illusion that it is real... somebody needs to make a Kindle attachment that smells like a book. Just sayin'.

So, yes, I am completely stoked about the Kindle Fire and there is no looking back at this point.
Uh oh, if Andrew doesn't end up getting me the Fire, then bye bye next pay check because now I am completely convinced I not only want, but need, the Kindle Fire.
Don't judge me.

As Of Lately..

First things first- I just ate the most humongous plate of pasta. Not even joking, I wish I would have taken a picture of it before hand to show you my intake but I had no plans of actually finishing it off!

Anyways-
If you haven't noticed, I have been MIA for a couple different reasons.
1. It's the holiday season
I've been shopping, wrapping, planning, and EATING!
2. I got a job!

That's right- I got a job! It may be temporary for now (at least 6 months) but I am so happy to be getting a pay check soon! I have been there almost 2 weeks and while the hours are rough (I wake up at 6am and don't get home until around 6pm) having that first pay check in my hands will be worth it!
This should explain me missing.. I am slowly but surely getting used to the hours but it may take a while. At first I would get home from work and completely crash.. now I can stay up a few hours.. but not many.

The job I have has nothing to do with my degree..
I wanted to do event planning or public relations (I know- like every other girl in the world) but I am now doing odds and ends around a mortgage company. Don't get me wrong- I am thankful for the opportunity and the fact that I have a job in general (and I may love it eventually) but for now it is a bit discouraging to have a temp job.
I am blessed. I am lucky to have a job. But- this is my blog and I can cry a wee little bit if I want to.

Now that I got that off my shoulders, explained my MIA-ness, and can finally stay up past 8am, I will hopefully be back to my regular blogging soon!

I have been reading y'alls blogs.. really, I have. Sometimes the office is slow and out comes blogger but I read it on my phone so I haven't been able to comment much or write my own posts. But no worries, I am still at stalker status and know pretty much everything going on in your lives!

Happy Christmas week everyone. May your work week go by as fast as I pray mine does!

Weekend Recap

As most of you know, Andrew's birthday was this weekend. We had a very packed but fun filled time! Friday night we went to dinner with his family at a delicious Japanese restaurant. You know, one of the ones where they cook in front of you, make the onion volcano, the Japanese smiley face, and try (but fail miserably) to catch eggs in their coat pockets. It was a great show and the food was a-maze-ing! Andrew's dad and sister took some pictures so I will put them up as soon as they load them to Facebook.

I promised to show you the gifts I got him for his birthday and lucky for you, I remembered to snap a couple pictures before I gave them to him!

First, I took (seriously) like 3 months to make him a book showcasing our first year and a half of dating. I accompanied the pictures with a story about a boy and a girl and how they fell in love. It's our story and I think it is a wonderful way to remember this very important and beautiful time in our lives. It turned out amazing (I took a couple pictures of the inside below) and he said it was the best present he had ever received (go me!).

If you would like to make one of your own there is a free downloadable program on blurb.com you can use. It can be totally custom, like this one, or you can use a template.

At the back of the book were these:

Voucher's to go SKY DIVING
which we will do when it gets warmer
[if we can find our nerves because right now we are SCARED!]

Saturday I took Andrew out for steaks at Outback and we just watched a movie and went to sleep because Sunday we had tickets to see the Panthers play the Falcons! My good friend John has the hook up to some AMAZING tickets because his dad is the Panthers equipment manager and gave them to us for Andrew's birthday. Even though we lost we had SUCH a fun time and the seats couldn't have been better.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Today is my sweet boyfriends birthday. Finally, I won't have to feel like such a cradle robber. Only kidding, Andrew is only 2 months younger than me.. but that doesn't stop me from pickin' on him and calling myself a cougar every chance I get!

& to prove how mature my cutie pie boyfriend is.. the past year in photos:

Andrew-
You are the sweetest man I could ever ask for. You know how to make my bad days better and happy days brighter. You're everything I never knew I wanted and I can't imagine my life without you in it. I still smile at every sweet 'good morning' text you send me and still get butterflies when you call me beautiful or kiss my forehead. We have had our ups and downs, but I hope you know that to me, this is a fairytale and what we have is as close to perfect as I could imagine.

You are so handsome, so genuine, so full of knowledge. I learn something new from you every day and never get bored hearing your thoughts and opinions on things. It surprises me constantly how happy you can make me just by reminding me how perfectly your fingers fit between mine.

You are my everything and deserve the best birthday possible. I hope you have an amazing day and that 23 is your best year to date.

I love you to the sky and back..
and the sky never ends.

Sorry for the mushy post yall..
Come back to see the gifts I got him & to hear about our weekend :)

eShakti Product Review

About a month ago, I was contacted by eShakti regarding their clothing. I was asked to pick an article of clothing, have it sized to fit my body, and then write a review [these opinions are all my own, promise!].

eShakti is a very wonderful company, their costumer service is great, and they worked with me the whole way. eShakti is different from most clothing websites because they actually fit the clothing to compliment your body type. First, you pick an article of clothing, then you change it to be uniquely yours. For example, you can change the length of the sleeves, the length of the hem, and even the shape of the neckline. You can also give them your sizes and have it tailored to fit your body perfectly, for a very low cost.

Here are some of their dresses that I love.
(they also have pants & shirts!)

I am particularly taller than a lot of people so most dresses come a little short on me. I was able to tell eShakti my height and request that it hit a little above the knee. It arrived at my door step at just the right length. One thing I thought was really useful (not so much to me, but I am sure it will be to a lot of you!) is that you give them your bra size. This insures that you can get whatever type of dress you want and you won't have to get a bigger size to fit your chest. All you that are blessed in that particular area should *love* that!

Anyways- now to the dress!
I chose this dress: Blue Belle

I kept everything the same except my request hem line. This dress even has pockets which I absolutely LOVE!

The weather in Charlotte has been absolutely nuts lately- raining and overcast nearly every single day and not to mention, nobody has been home to photograph me in it, so I had to just take them myself. The only full length mirror we have is in our workout room so please excuse the poor quality- just trust me when I say it is BEAUTIFUL and fits me to a tee!

The lovely Jennifer at eShakti has been kind enough to offer my readers a promo code throughout the month of December. This would be perfect to use to get a dress for all those holiday parties or to use towards a gift for a loved one. Who else can say they received a dress perfectly designed for them as a Christmas gift? Not many! It will seem as if you spent a fortune, when really the prices are very reasonable!

Use promo code BELIEVE0811 to receive $20 off your purchase price!

Thank you eShakti for giving me this opportunity and for giving my readers an opportunity to try your wonderful products out for themselves!

Happy Shopping Loves!

25 Days of Christmas- ABC Family

I look forward to ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas every year but if you're anything like me, you probably forget to tune in half the time. I never know what is playing what night or what time and it escapes my mind to check. Well, this year- seeing as it's December 1st- I am trying to avoid that by getting the schedule ahead of time. This insures that I will catch every single one of my all time favorite holiday movies and am not sulking December 26th when I realize I've missed it.

image

Here are some of my favorites that are going to be showing on ABC Family in the next couple of days. If you haven't seen these, you absolutely must.. so write them down in your planners!

TONIGHT- Dec 1: The Santa Claus @ 7pm

Dec 2: Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas @ 8pm

Dec 5: The Polar Express @ 8:30pm
(my all-time favorite childhood Christmas book made into a movie)

Dec 7: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation @ 9pm

These are ABC Family Originals-
Dec 11: Holiday in Handcuffs @ 6pm

12 Dates of Christmas @ 8pm
(This is a premiere I am dying to see. I am such a sucker for ABC Family movies.. it's honestly really sad, but I just LOVE them!)

Every year, ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas features an original movie. This year it's the spectacular romantic holiday movie, 12 Dates of Christmas! Starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the BellFranklin & BashNYPD Blue) and Amy Smart (Just FriendsThe Butterfly Effect), the movie follows a young woman who re-lives the same first date on Christmas Eve over and over again until she learns to open up her world to new things and stop living in the past. We can't wait!
Watch the world premiere of 12 Dates of Christmas December 11 at 8/7c!

Thanksgiving

[or two hours of it]

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I hope you did as well!
Unfortunately, I only took pictures the first two hours of it while we were visiting our first of three spots.

We went to my mawmaw's house for Thanksgiving lunch. It was delicious and I had a great time visiting with my dads side of the family, which I rarely have the opportunity to see. After that, we drove to my nana and papa's, my mama's parents. I am extremely close to most of these cousins so it was a great time with TONS of yummy Thanksgiving food. I really wish I would have taken pictures of this spread.. it was literally enough to feed an army (which with 32 people there, we basically are the size of an army). After my nana's we traveled to Andrew's familys Thanksgiving dinner. We couldn't even eat much there but it was really nice to see his family as well. I, of course, snuck in a piece of his granny's delicious sweet potato pie.
In all honesty, I we spent the day racing the tv. We tried to get from one place to another between all the NFL games or their half times only to re-stuff our faces.

Last year, we stuffed our face at every single place and by 6pm we were in a turkey coma and could barely move. This year we did a little better at pacing ourselves and were able to converse and be happy at our last stop. With time we are either going to get extremely good at this or just have to learn to say 'no' every now and then. As family oriented as we both are, I think we are just going to have to learn to embrace the extra 10lbs every Thanksgiving.

Here are pictures from my mawmaw's.. mainly of my little nieces.
They are such cute little love bugs!

Am I wearing a cute poncho or a stylish potato sack?
I am still not sure about this wardrobe choice.
Whatever, it allowed extra room for my growing belly.

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Now it's time to get amped for Christmas!
